The Dermatology Department

The Dermatology Department with a long history has distinctive specialty features, advanced medical technology and complete treatment method. It is a comprehensive skin disease and venereal disease specialty integrating medical, teaching and scientific research. At the beginning of new China, the Dermatology Department was founded under the leadership of Professor You Pengxi (with grade 1 and class 2 health technology), a well-known dermatologist of our nation. Under the leadership of Professor Zhu Guangdou and Professor Shi Weimin, the discipline developed rapidly. The Department, focusing on the treatment of leucoderma by combining combine traditional Chinese and western medicine, has a feature of diagnosis and treatment of various skin diseases. It has certain technical advantage over the diagnosis and treatment of alopecia, fungal disease, rheumatism and allergic dermatitis. It is the Leader Unit of Cypridology Group of Skin Disease Branch of Shanghai Medical Association, Member Unit of Shanghai Aids Association, Authorized Unit of Doctor's Degree of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Alopecia Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Scientific and Technological Development Department, Yang Yan Clinical Research Center of Pigment Disease and National ALA Photodynamic Diagnosis and Treatment Center. In 2011, the Department at Southern and Northern Branch received patients with skin disease of 140,000 in total.

It held several voluntary diagnosis and patients education activities, published more than 40 academic papers including seven SCI articles with an impact factor of 17, participated in compiling five monographs and won many awards of Shanghai Science and Technology Committee and Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau. Now there are 12 doctors and one technician including one chief physician/professor, eight associate chief physicians, one postdoctor, two doctors and five masters. It cultivated 14 post graduates and two overseas students. The Director and Executive Director (Southern Branch) of the Department are Shi Weimin and Wang Guanqing, respectively.
